How To Install WindowBuilder in Eclipse Neon

  • September 1, 2016April 2, 2020
  • by Richard Clarke

I’d like to start out by saying a big thanks to the Eclipse Foundation for their responses to my article on Twitter. They were kind enough to correspond with me briefly after I wrote my own opinions about their software.

I appreciate the response and I’m happy to be working with the Eclipse IDE. I am looking forward to seeing what else the Eclipse Foundation has to offer and maybe one day I will join their team. Either way, I know they’ll continue to produce great works. Thanks again! For more information on Eclipse, click HERE

I assume no personal responsibility for any errors or mistakes produced on your machine. Follow this guide closely and you should achieve the correct results. This was performed on a machine running Windows 8. However, the same steps apply to Windows 7 as well. Without further ado…

STEP 1: IT BEGINS

Open Eclipse and click “Help” on the menu bar. This should display a dropdown menu with additional options. Click “Install New Software…” (click below)

STEP 2: AVAILABLE SOFTWARE

At the top, in the field next to “Work with”, click inside the field and type/paste this URL:
https://dl.bintray.com/zaunerc/p2/org.eclipse.windowbuilder.p2_site/latest/ and hit Enter (click below)

STEP 3: INSTALLATION AND DONE!

A new element, WindowBuilder, should appear in the table below. Check the box to the left of it and click Next. Continue following the on screen prompts to install the WindowBuilder plugin. If it is (somehow) already installed on your version of Eclipse, you will see this image: (click below)

I hope this helped! Now you can all start designing your own GUI for your software in no time. Go crazy!
